Recognizing that we need each other, we fulfill that call with service that leads toward the mutual transformation of lives and communities. Serving as the Hands of Christ means that we are always learning, looking for God’s presence at work, and willing to go wherever God leads. We seek to bring Jesus Christ to people locally, regionally, and globally through our support of various ministries here in Floyd County, the state of Georgia, and beyond. Many of our members are key volunteers in these ministries, fulfilling our church’s mission to be the hands of Christ to the least, the last, the lost and the overlooked. We are a proud partner with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF), and have not only given monetarily towards their organization and the organizations they support, but our members also give their time, energy, and talents to these organizations.local
At First Baptist, we believe that change starts at home. Good Neighbors Ministry, the William S. Davies Shelters, Habitat for Humanity, Rome Action Ministry, Transitional Housing program, the Community Soup Kitchen and Meals and More Ministry are just a few local organizations we support.
regional
Helping those experiencing hard times or needing help is another important aspect of being the hands and feet of Jesus. Participating in projects to help an organization work better to service others, along with donating to Disaster Relief Efforts across the country, we see the importance of "boots on the ground" in these areas.
global
Jesus also calls us to go outside of our home and spread His good news. Members have opportunities to travel abroad to work with CBF partners in countries like Uganda, Kenya, and Peru. On the last Sunday of each month, we take a special offering for Global Hunger Relief.
encourager church
CBF Encourager Churches become partners for the work of CBF Global Missions around the world. This partnership invites churches to have a unique personal relationship in global missions and unites churches with the ongoing mission work in CBF’s three contexts: global poverty, global migration, and the global church. It helps churches gain the historic role of sending members of its body into the world as we cultivate beloved community, bear witness to Jesus Christ, and seek transformational development. Most recently we became an Encourager Church to Cultivate Abundance, an non-profit out of Immokalee, FL that aims to eliminate food insecurity for local farmers in their area. I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
